Claim Service Representative, Trainees (2 openings)

Recent graduate sought to join a highly respected and dynamic Claims Department, in beautiful, Montpelier, VT. Be part of a trusted property/ casualty insurance company that has been providing superior service and products since 1828. The selected trainees will participate in a 3 -4 month intensive training program that will prepare you to take the state adjuster?s exam, which must be passed within six months from date of hire to fulfill the requirements. Upon successful completion you will investigate, coordinate, negotiate and settle a wide range of claims, with a focus on telephonic adjusting functions and the handling of high volume, low financial exposure & low complexity auto claims. Other duties include clerical functions in support of the assigned Unit and Department.

Candidates should possess the following:
  • College Degree (Bachelor?s preferred)
  • Desire to learn about and become a professional in the insurance industry, specifically, technical aspects of claims adjudication;
  • Strong writing, math, analytical, communication (verbal & written) & problem-solving skills;
  • Superior customer service skills;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to represent the company to, & deal effectively with, a wide range of contacts, including all levels of company personnel, adjusters, outside firms, etc.;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook.
  • Experience with Imaging programs a plus.
Appropriate State Adjusters license within six months from date of hire is required for position.
