On January 21, 1828, the Vermont Mutual Fire Insurance Company became the first insurance company founded in the state of Vermont. At that time in our Nation’s history, Abraham Lincoln was still a teenager, Andrew Jackson had just succeeded John Quincy Adams as the 7th President of the United States, the Democratic Party was newly formed, and Webster had just published his first dictionary.
As a country and a company, we certainly have come a long way since then. With our rich and respected history of providing protection for homes, automobiles and businesses throughout the northeast, we continue to look to the future. As a result, we have grown into one of the most successful companies in our industry.
Serving Our Policyholders
In order to best serve policyholders, an insurance company must be financially secure; and Vermont Mutual has been consistently recognized as one of the most secure and reliable insurance companies in the United States.
A.M. Best Company, the global rating agency for the insurance industry, has assigned Vermont Mutual a Financial Security Rating of A+ (Superior). And Ward Group, one of the industry’s most respected benchmarking organizations, has recognized Vermont Mutual as one of the Top 50 insurers in the United States for eleven consecutive years.
Hundreds of thousands of policyholders rely on us for their personal and commercial insurance protection. That’s a big challenge, but one we strive to exceed every day, especially in our customers’ time of need. We remain a steadfast partner to our policyholders as well as our Independent Agents, who are members of your local communities and are prepared to offer you the exceptional coverage and service you deserve.
At Vermont Mutual, the pride we have in our past is exceeded only by our excitement for the future and we look forward to sharing that with you.
