Vermont Mutual Insurance Group Adds Two New Board Members

MONTPELIER, Vermont (April 20, 2023)—Vermont Mutual Insurance Group®, long recognized as a Top 50 Property and Casualty insurer in the U.S., has recently elected two prominent executives to the Company’s Board of Directors: Theresa Alberghini DiPalma, former Senior Vice President for Marketing and External Relations at The University of Vermont Health Network and Mari McClure, President and CEO of Green Mountain Power.

Upon welcoming both women to the Board, Dan Bridge, Vermont Mutual’s Board Chairman, President and CEO, noted “Both Mari and Theresa have enjoyed much success in their careers and will be very welcome additions to the Board as they partner with the management team to move Vermont Mutual forward and contribute to the Company’s continued success.”

Green Mountain Power President and CEO, Mari McClure, has enjoyed many distinguished career milestones. Prior to joining GMP, McClure was an attorney at Vermont’s largest law firm, Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC and notably, was a standout NCAA Division I basketball player at the University of Buffalo from 1997-2001, where she was captain of the team for two seasons. Ms. McClure also served as Chair of Vermont Governor Phil Scott’s Pandemic Employer and Technical Support Team and continues a history of innovation at GMP, being recognized by Business Insider and featured in Time magazine for her transformative work in Vermont.

Theresa Alberghini DiPalma has had an outstanding twenty-five year career in government and the non-profit sector, focusing on health care policy, regulation and management and was instrumental in developing and guiding the strategic growth of the Medical Center. Among her many accomplishments, Ms. Alberghini DiPalma worked as a senior advisor with U.S. Senator, Patrick Leahy, in Washington, D.C., and was appointed Chair of the Vermont Health Care Authority, a regulatory agency, by Governor Howard Dean. Most recently, she served as a Senior Vice President at the University of Vermont Health Network. Ms. Alberghini DiPalma continues to be active in numerous state and local activities and serves on several boards.

Vermont Mutual’s Board also offered their gratitude for two retiring Board members: former Vermont Mutual CEO and President, Bill Catto and former Executive Vice President at National Life Group, Michele Gatto. Commenting on their numerous contributions to the Company, Vermont Mutual’s CEO, President and Board Chairman, Dan Bridge, remarked, “I cannot thank Bill and Michele enough for their contributions to the success of Vermont Mutual.  Michele has graciously helped guide the Company in her role on the board for an impressive 17 years and Bill has been a member of this board for an incredible 27 years. Considering the span of his extraordinary career as a leader at Vermont Mutual, this represents a total of 51 years of service to our companies. Both of these exceptional individuals will be greatly missed by all of us at Vermont Mutual and we once again thank them for their important contributions and wish them well.”
